DISC Personality Styles!

As you probably know, within the population there is a huge variety of personalities. It's important to recognise what type of personality you are to understand how you can help and support other people.

The DISC model can help you understand yourself and others by describing the four main behavioural styles. However, each individual person can, and likely will, display some of all four behavioural styles depending on the situation. This blend of styles within each person is called a style blend. Each person’s style blend will have more of some traits and less of others. Usually your personality will be two of the four types and these tend to be directly next to each other, rather than diagonal.
To work out your own personality and even to send out to your teammates, simply fill in the following table.

  1. For each row, decide which word you are most like and score it a 4, then order the second most like you score a 3 and continue with the remaining words.
  2. Complete the table.
  3. Total the scores for each column.
  4. Work out which letter you are the most like and which you are second most like giving it in the form e.g. C/s.

Directing Influencing  Steady  Cautious
Decisive Optimistic Patient Restrained
Daring Enthusiastic  Stabilising Analytical
Competitive Talkative Accommodating Precise
Forceful  Charming Easy going  Curious

So now that you've completed the questionnaire and recognised the type of personality you have, what does that mean? In short read the following but click on the individual links to read a full description.

  • D stands for the dominant type which is outgoing and task-oriented.
  • I stands for the inspiring type which is outgoing and people-oriented.
  • S stands for the supportive type which is reserved and people-oriented.
  • C stands for the cautious type which is reserved and task-oriented.

This is extremely important to consider when you start sponsoring downlines. Importantly, it's up to the team leader to recognise their individual downline's personality. Knowing this, you must be able to teach with all the personalities in mind and motivate them individually, despite group training's. Similarly, you have to be able to push them as much as there personality needs. Definitely make sure they also have their ACE in place!

What DISC personality style are you? I am a C/s
